Guangzhou City Zoo

We had an awesome time visiting the Guangzhou City Zoo!  They had some great animals including brown bears, elephants and panda bears.  My favorite was the giraffe.  We got to feed leaves to the giraffes.  They would used their long tongues to tear the leaves right out of my hands!

Shopping in Guangzhou

We've been doing a little shopping in Guangzhou.  It's a crazy place to shop.  We went to a place called the Pearl Market.  We saw a guy selling tiger paws and animal horns right on the street.  It was a little weird.

After shopping for pearls and jade (BORING!!!) we finally got to go to a toy shop.  I got the coolest plane!  It lights up and goes round and round in circles and even tries to take off.  Mama says that Chinese toys are the loudest!

We even found a McDonald's near the market.  Can you believe it?

Our hotel is on an island called Shamian Island.  When you go shopping on the island, there are lots of little stores.  When you go into the stores, ladies will follow me around the store and show me toys to play with and then they try to get my mom to buy them for me.  I try to get her to buy them too, but Mom says I can't have a toy every day.  Bummer!

Another City - Guangzhou

Sorry I missed a day posting, but I've been busy.  On Tuesday we flew in an airplane to another city called Guangzhou.  This city is in the southern part of China.  In this area they speak Cantonese instead of Mandarin.  But I still don't understand it.

Our hotel here is really cool and good for families.  There's a playroom with lots of toys and lots of kids to play with.  There's an awesome pool, too.  Last night we went to a restaurant called Lucy's.  I had a hamburger, french fries and a milkshake.  Boy, were they good.  I like Chinese food, but it was nice to have something that tasted like home.

Today we went to the Six Banyan Tree Temple  We met a real monk.  I think he liked me because he pulled my ear and held my hands.  It made me feel a little funny, so I was happy when we left.

Tonight we're going to have Papa John's pizza for dinner.  That sounds real good!

Morning at the park

On Monday we went to the local park.  It was fun to walk around and look at everything.  We found some amusement rides.  I got to ride three different rides.  The lady at the merry-go-round must have liked me because she let me ride twice!  I especially like the ride that went around and up and down.

After lunch we went to the pool!  It was so much fun to splash and play.  It was nice to spend a quiet day with my family.

My new little brother is learning how to play with me and share toys.  He likes to throw things and sometimes throws toys at me.  I don't like that part.  He takes a lot of Mama and Baba's time.  I don't like that part either.  But he's a baby and needs lots of attention.

Later today we will fly on an airplane to a new city called Guangzhou.  We will be there for over a week before going back home.

Visit to Noah's Orphanage

On Sunday we visited Noah's orphanage.  An orphanage is a place where kids who have no mom or dad can live.  Noah has been living in the Kaifeng orphanage while he was waiting for us.  We got to see where Noah lived, where he slept and where he played.  I am so glad that his nannies loved him while he was waiting for us.

After our trip, we played in our hotel's playroom.  That was pretty fun!  We had dumplings for dinner again.  I just love dumplings.

Shaolin Temple

On Saturday we got to visit the Shaolin Temple.  It was a long bus ride, but we got to see some cool stuff!  My favorite parts were the camel and the Kung Fu show.  I ran around with the big boys while Mama and Baba walked slow with Noah.  There were lots of older kids who live at the temple and study Kung Fu.  We saw them practicing in the fields and courtyards.

Noah is now in our family

Baby Noah came to us yesterday. I am so excited that I can't sit still! I am jumping around and swinging my arm around like I did during the Christmas show.  I tried to get Noah to play with me right away, but he just cried. Mama says he just needs a little time to get to know us, then he'll want to play. He stopped crying when Mama held him, but he started crying again when Baba tried to hold him.

I have been a very good big brother. I kept talking to Noah and asking him to play, and later on he gave ME the first smile. We took Noah back to the hotel and Baba and I got some food. Noah drank something called formula out of a bottle for Mama and she was very happy that he did that for her. Later, I helped my little brother get ready for bath and bed. I put a little blanket out for him in his crib, then listened to Baba read us both a story. Baba said that we both fell asleep, but I think that Noah fell asleep first.

Today We Get Noah

I woke up happy and refreshed because I slept all night! The first thing I told Mama and Baba was "Guess what? Today is the day we get baby Noah because today Thursday! Then I sang my days of the week song. (Thanks for teaching it to me, Mrs. Sanders!)

We all flew from Beijing to a city called Zhengzhou yesterday. We are now staying in a huge new hotel called the Crown Plaza. And guess what? They have a Walmart!  We went there to get some food and snacks for baby Noah, and I helped try them out to make sure they were OK. It doesn't look like the Walmart at home.  It was busy and full of colorful foods and different foods than what we have at home.  I helped Mama get baby Noah's crib ready in the room. I am sooo excited to see my baby brother and get him into our family and start being a big brother!

Tuesday in China

Yesterday we visited the Great Wall of China.  It was huge.  And it was steep.  We climbed and climbed.  I made it all the way to a tower.  I almost expected Rapunzel to let down her hair for me to climb up.  I climbed with my family and with some of my new friends, Sun and Elena.  When we got back down to the bottom, we found an ice cream stand and had a yummy drumstick.

The we went to see the area where the 2008 Olympics were held.  The big stadium is called the Bird's Nest.  I don't really remember watching the Olympics on TV, do you?

Our day ended with tickets to the Acrobat Show.  My favorite part was when all the girls got on one bike.  There were 13 girls riding on one bike.  I'm only allowed to have one boy on my bike.

Today we will get on another airplane to fly to the city where we will meet my new brother.  I'm exited and nervous about that.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Over the moon!

I'm so excited.  Yesterday we went over the moon to China.  Did you know that when you go over the moon that the sun never sets?  We flew from Chicago to Beijing on a VERY long plane ride.  It was bright outside the windows the whole time.  That made it hard to fall asleep.  I finally slept for a couple hours.

I learned a little bit about time zones.  Mama showed me with a globe and flashlight how when the sun is shining in Peachtree City, it is dark in China.  And when it is daytime in China, it is dark at home.  The time is 12 hours ahead here.  I am getting up and getting ready on Tuesday morning while you are getting ready to go to bed Monday night.  And when you get up and go to school on Tuesday morning, it is already Tuesday night here.  That's pretty cool.

I woke up at 12:30, then 3:30, then again at 4:40 am. I am not tired and have lots of energy (at least for now).Today we will climb the Big Wall of China.  (The guide called it the Great Wall).  It's really big and really cool.  Can't wait to show you some pictures!

Micah Over the Moon

Hi! I'm Micah!  I'm 5 years old and I'm in Kindergarten.  This Sunday, my family and I will be leaving to adopt my little brother.  We will be flying over the moon and all the way to China!  We will be traveling to Beijing, then to a city called Zhengzhou and then finally to a city called Guangzhou.

I'm very excited to be a big brother.  I've never been a big brother before.  I think I will be fun to boss my little brother around.  That sounds cool.  I also will have to be a good example and teach my brother the rules of our family.  That sounds like a lot more work.

Please come back to my blog to follow my adventure!
